Obituary of Jean R. Reau
Jean R. Reau, 77, died on September 8, 2019 in Rockledge, Florida.
He was born on June 24, 1942, in Aux Cayes, Haiti to Yvonne Sandaire and Louie Benatte. He was raised in Port-au-prince with his mother and seven siblings.
Jean relocated to the United States in 1970 as a skilled welder and later gained his citizenship.
On May 27, 1972 he married Anita Christopher. He and Anita lived in Spring Valley, New York with his his daughter Dorothy and three step children Rose, Fransisco, and Mireille.
Jean was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and also belonged to the Free Masons.
He retired in 1999 from Rockland Psychiatric Hospital as a Master Plumber. He then moved to to enjoy his retirement. Jean spent his time traveling to numerous countries, fishing, collecting watches, artwork and listening to classical music.
Jean is survived by his 2 older brothers, Gerard and Edmond; sister Odette; daughter, Dorothy; grandchildren, Lorenzo and Corey; great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Empress; numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 13th from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Rd, SE, Palm Bay. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Road, SE, Palm Bay. He will be laid to rest at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay.
