Obituary of Bruce Edward Heeb
Bruce Edward Heeb, 76, peacefully passed March 5, 2017 at his Melbourne home. Bruce was born in Kingston, NY to Helen and Charles Heeb and predeceased by his sister, Charlene Y. Heeb. Beloved husband of 52 years to Barbara (Moore) Heeb, proud father of daughter Stacey Heeb and son Derek Heeb.
Bruce graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York with a BS in Electrical Engineering. While working full-time and raising a family he also earned an MBA & MSEE from Northeastern University in Massachusetts.
Bruce’s career began in the space industry in R&D, working on the guidance system for the Apollo program. He was granted a patent for his invention of the Tri-Axial Suspension and Power Transfer System for the lunar excursion module.
Changing career focus to warning signaling devices, then telecommunications, Bruce’s career led him to the position of president of Seiscor Technologies, a division of Raytheon in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
During his career he enjoyed international travel to over 30 countries, including Europe, the Middle East & China.
After moving to Melbourne in 1994 and before retiring, Bruce worked in several local businesses.
Bruce enjoyed giving back to the community, he sang in the Greater Canaveral Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, volunteered for SCORE, served as president for homeowners’ associations in Tulsa, OK and Melbourne. Since 2004, was an active member (and “webmaster”) of the Rotary Club of Indialantic.
Bruce enjoyed motorcycle riding, woodworking, and electronic gadgets particularly computers. He was a tenacious Mr. Fix-It.
Generous with his time, Bruce was always eager to lend a hand to others.
He lived life with integrity.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his residence for family and friends on Sunday, March 12, 2017.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Rotary Club of Indialantic
