Obituary of Joan Frances Hunt
Joan Keefe Diecidue Hunt, 72, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Born December 5, 1942 in Providence, RI, she was the youngest daughter of Raymond J. Keefe and Dorothy Carey Keefe. Her sisters Patricia Locke and Barbara Eldridge and her daughter Christina Hunt pre-deceased Joan. Former wife of Rosario G. Diecidue (deceased), widow of George R. Hunt, Joan resided in the Boston area until she relocated to Melbourne, FL in May 2014.
Joan was a full time mother and later a small business owner. She was active in Veteran Organizations (Am-Vets and VFW) and the BPOE (Elks). She deeply loved her family, enjoying time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan is survived by her sister Dorothy Higgins of Fort Walton Beach, FL, her five loving children and their spouses, Rosario & Pamela Diecidue of Melbourne, FL; Donna & Robert Sherrin of Dedham, MA; Angela & Scott Walsh of Roslindale, MA; Raymond & Sandra Diecidue of Randolph, MA; and Debra Omar of Norfolk, MA. She was the adored grandmother of Dianne & Scott (grandson-in-law) Simonini, Danielle Diecidue, Robert & Jason Sherrin, Scott Walsh Jr, Eric & Jared Diecidue, Angela & Daniel Omar, Anthony Hunt and great-grandsons Gabriel and Emanuel Santiago. She was the treasured aunt of numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Joan enjoyed bingo, reading and traveling, including an occasional trip to the casinos. She loved her new home in Florida, and could be found at many of the events IRCC had to offer. Find a lively group and Joan was most often at the center. Her carefree nature and sunny personality drew people to her. She will forever be remembered as a sweet lady who always went out of her way for others. Her tender heart, musical laugh, and comic nature will be forever missed. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, in Boston, MA at a date and location to be determined later.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
