Obituary of Roy Hall

Roy Hall, Jr. of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, formerly of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on September 15th. He was born January 21,1935 in Wayne County, West Virgina, son of the late Roy Hall and Roberta Hicks Hall. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his son Captain Steve Hall, HPD; his son Michael Hall; daughter-in-law Vicky T. Hall, son-in-law Joshua Smith; sister Kathleen Wade and half-brother William “Buddy” Hall. He is survived by his sister Roberta Faye Lovejoy of South Point, Ohio, his wife of sixty three years Nancy Via Hall, daughter Sharon Smith, son Sean Hall, son retired United States Air Force MSGT Christopher Hall, and daughter-in-law Lisa H. Hall. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Geremy Carter, Amber Hart and husband James, Monica Mount and husband Shawn, Matthew Hall and wife Chelsea, Megan Simyak and husband TJ, and Cameron Hall. He was blessed with five great-grand children Lochlan Carter, Madison and Garrett Mount, and Gracyn and Gunner Hall. His surviving half sisters are Patty Fuller, Gloria Jean Robinette, Ruth Bevins, Joyce Tackett, Carol Ratcliff and half brother David Hall. Roy attended Huntington High School and Marshall University. He received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Business Management and an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Police Science, graduating Cum Laude from D.S. Lancaster College, in Alleghany County, Virginia. He was a veteran Police Officer of twenty eight years service, beginning his career in Law Enforcement in 1963 as a Patrolman for the City of Huntington, where he served several years in Uniform Patrol and as a Detective in the Investigations Unit before accepting a position with the C&O Railway Police Department. He retired as Chief of Police and Special Services for the old C&O Railway part of CSX Transportation, where he also served as Manager of Casualty Prevention Programs and Planning, and Manager of Casualty Prevention Operations. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving four years in the United States Navy, “Sea Bees”. Roy was active in youth sports, coaching Basketball and Baseball for several years while living in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. He was a former member of the Virginia Chiefs of Police Association, the Shenandoah Valley Crime Clinic, The Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, The Western Pennsylvania Railroad Police Association and The Fraternal Order of Police in Huntington, West Virginia. Roy considered the Greatest day of his life to be when he and his Wife were Baptized into Christ, both on the same day. He was a member of the Church of Christ in South Point ,Ohio where he had many friends. A Celebration of Life is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Church of Christ of South Point, located at 402 3rd Street, East, South Point, OH 45680.
