Obituary of Joan Patricia Bird Mondello

Joan Patricia Bird Mondello, 91, of Palm Bay, Florida, died at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL on November 10, 2014. She was born on August 29, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to Angelo and Sarah Misito. In Brooklyn, she was known as Lady Bird. She graduated from PS 212 in Brooklyn, graduating and getting married at age 16. Later she worked at A&P Factory in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. In 1990, she relocated to Florida. She is survived by her children Yvonne Carey, Vincent Mondello, Jo Ann Byrd, and Josette Strahl Lojko; grandchildren, Salvatore Mondello, Jackie Freeman, Frank Bisigni, Jr., Vincent Mondello, Richard Mondello, Christopher Mondello, and Joseph Strahl; great grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, and Sarah Rose Freeman, Patrick Bisigni (USAF), Christina Bisigni, Thea Loretta, Michael, and Joseph Mondello. She loved her grandchildren and telling stories of her past and family history. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore and her grandson, Richard Strahl. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida. She enjoyed word puzzles, sewing, cooking and her parakeets.
