Obituary of Eleanor Ann Betz
Eleanor Ann Betz, 85, born February 2, 1929, in East St Louis, Illinois, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, after a brief illness.
Eleanor received her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Louis University in 1950 and earned her Masters degree in Speech Pathology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in 1968.
She retired from Belleville School District 118 in 1992.
She enjoyed playing tennis with the girls, swimming, playing cards, traveling with her husband Vernon, and being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ellie was so blessed to have so many compassionate and caring friends.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Annette) Betz, of Pueblo West, Colorado; daughter, Barbara (Paul) Burke of Palm Bay, Florida; brother, Dr. Robert Brennan of St. Louis, Missouri ; brother-in-law, William Betz of Westchester, Illinois; sisters-in GÇôlaw, Jackie Brennan of Collinsville, Illinois and Agnes Ehrhart of Quincy, Illinois. Her grandchildren, Kate (Steve) Edstrom, Ashlie Lipp, Kelsie Betz, Ryan Burke, and Taylor Burke; and great- grandchildren Austin Furlong, Pierce Burke, and Brennan Edstrom.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Vernon Betz; her parents, Dr. M. Earl and Ella Brennan; brothers, Regis and Michael Brennan; sister, Rosemary Morgan; brother-in-law, David Morgan; sisters-in-law, Jinx Brennan, and Betty Betz; and a great-grandson, Koan Yarter.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Belleville, Illinois on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:00 am. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donorGÇÖs choice.
