Obituary of Jerome D. “Jerry” Harold

Jerry Harold, age 87, died of natural causes on February 9, 2014 in his home in Merritt Island.-á He is survived by his wife, Barbara Harold; his son Steve Harold of Brevard County; and daughter JoAnn Peterson of Marietta, GA.-á He was the proud grandfather to four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.-á He was predeceased by his late wife of 57 years, Betty Jean Stakemiller Harold; his parents, Jesse and Marie Harold; and his sister Marilyn Shaw. -á Jerry was born at home in Miami in 1926.-á He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1944 where he is a member of the GÇ£Over the Hill GangGÇ¥, you know who you are. -á He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater at the end of World War II, after which he obtained his doctorate from the Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis.-á He practiced in Miami Shores for over 50 years and in 1960, was voted Chiropractor of the year in the State of Florida by the Florida Chiropractic Association.-á Jerry cared greatly for his patients, even treating those who couldnGÇÖt afford to pay. -á He has been a member of the Navy League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVets, the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.-á He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Florida Bible College in the 1970GÇÖs and well known for his philanthropic contributions toward student education. He was loved by staff and students alike. -á Jerry was a devout believer and active in the messianic community.-á He volunteered for several years at the Holy Land experience. He is one of the founding fathers of what is now The Seed of Abraham Ministries in Merritt Island, Florida, where he was active until his death. -á Arrangements by Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Melbourne, (321) 724-2222.-áHis memorial service will be held at Seed of Abraham Ministries at 925 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953 on Friday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 am.
