Obituary of William D. Wilson
MSGT William D. Wilson, Sr. “Bill”, age 72, of Melbourne, FL, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Wuesthoff Hospice House/Dr. Jey Pillai Center.
He was born on June 18, 1946 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late John Calvin Wilson and Mary Broom Wilson “Billie”.
MSGT Wilson retired from the Air Force after 25 years of service. His service began in November of 1966 as a Flight Mechanic, continued as a Flight Engineer on the C-5 Galaxy and ended upon his retirement in September of 1991 as a Flight Engineer Superintendent on the C-141 Starlifter. During his years of service, he participated in the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War, earning numerous decorations and medals, including the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
MSGT Wilson is preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Wilson Tuttle and Flora Wilson Jordan “Jean”. He is survived by his children, William David Wilson, Jr. and Kimberly Wilson.
MSGT Wilson will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Cape Canaveral Nation Cemetery on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 32 J.L. Golightly, 2265 North Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32935-6653.
