Obituary of Kenneth W. Kirk

Kenneth William Kirk, 81, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. Ken was born in Morris, IL, and graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering physics in 1958. He was a Brevard County resident since 1982 and worked at Harris Corporation as a senior systems engineer before retiring in 1993. He was a longtime member of the ROMEO biking group and an avid traveler who shared trips with his children and grandchildren, his friends, and, most often, his wife. He was a voracious learner who was never without his Kindle. Ken is survived by his children, Susan (Rich) Mermer, Thomas (Lisa) Kirk, Scott Kirk and Elizabeth (Michael) Mook; his sister-in-law, Judith (Jerry) Durrell and brother-in-law, David (Beth) Harbaugh; and his grandchildren, Rylan and Nathan (Angel Cassidy) Mermer and Duncan and Gillian Mook. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lynden, and his brother Dave. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 Hickory Street, Melbourne, 724-2222.
