Obituary of Carolyn Missroon Allmon

Carolyn Missroon Allmon, age 86, died after a brief illness on November 14, 2017. She was born January 13, 1931 to James F. Missroon and Almeda Missroon in Bucksport, South Carolina. She was the second of eleven children in a boisterous, happy family that eventually settled in Tybee, Georgia. In 1949 she married Edward C. Allmon, and they headed off to the University of Georgia, where she received a BS in Education in 1951. Together they built and operated several radio stations in both Northwest Florida and Central Florida. Carolyn also enjoyed a long and exciting career in Brevard County’s Space Program, supervising the publication of many launch documents during the glory days of space flight. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Linden Campbell, her grandson and his wife, Charlie and Jennifer Campbell, and her great-granddaughter, Aurora. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Burruss, and her brothers, Gerald Missroon and Alan Missroon. She is also survived by her three brothers: Jimmy, Bobby, and Larry Missroon; four sisters: Clelia Weber, Mary Flood, Linda Wilkinson, and Susan Upton, and countless nieces, in-laws and cousins in the Missroon clan.
