Richard “Dick” Atwood, 75, beloved husband of Priscilla, devoted father to their two daughters, Ellie and Jennifer, passed away at Holmes Regional Medical Center in the early morning of Sunday, June 12, 2016.+é-á+é-á
Born in Bath, Maine on February 18, 1941, the youngest of seven children of John and Eola (Congdon) Atwood, he attended Morse High School and was a graduate of Park College receiving his degree in Applied Science.
Dick retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of service in 1985, and the State of Maine in 2003.
A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his family includes his loving wife of 51 years, Priscilla, daughter, Ellie McCobb and her husband Buddy of Alexandria, Virginia; daughter Jennifer Starr of Palm Bay, Florida, and grandchildren Tyler, Nicholas, Kelly, Rachel, and Ethan.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents John and Eola Atwood, and brothers Norman, Reginald, and Allan Atwood.
Dick is survived by his sister Lydia Chase of Whitefield, Maine, brother Maj (USAF, Ret) Ronald Atwood also of Whitefield, Maine and sister Patricia Brownell of Port Richey, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
Dick’s burial ceremony will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on June 20, 2016, at 10:30 am.
