Obituary of Edwin J. Raynor
Edwin Joseph Raynor, (90) of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Eddie, or “Ace” as his friends called him, was born, and grew up on Long Island with his five brothers and sisters before moving upstate to Ravena, NY where he married his sweetheart Dayle and raised their three daughters, Diane Hewitte, (Palm Bay, FL), Beth Webb, (Schoharie, NY) and Erika Houck (Melbourne, FL.). Eddie and Dayle celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Eddie served in the US Coast Guard during WWII on the USS Muskegon PF-24 frigate convoy escort. After the war, he worked as a painter, electrician, and carpenter, and then had 25 years of service at the General Electric Service Shop in Albany, NY as a mechanic and coil winder before retiring to Florida.
Eddie enjoyed classical music, playing French Horn, collecting antique bottles, wood working, gardening, snowmobiling, golfing, and bowling. He was an avid reader and trivia buff. He loved being out in nature with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, a brother and two sisters, three daughters and their husbands, four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be services for friends and family Monday October 30th, 2:00pm at Faith Baptist Church Emerson Dr. Palm Bay Florida,
and on
November 5th, 2:00pm at Living Water Christian Family Fellowship Rte. 9W Ravena, NY
Memorial donations may be made in Eddie’s name to the Salvation Army.
