Obituary of Richard Palmer

RICHARD PALMER, age 93 of Green Cove Springs FL and formerly of Satellite Beach FL passed on Monday June 10, 2019, Born in Kingston NY he lived for the past 2-1/2 years at Diamond ALF in Green Cove Springs. He served in the United States Maritime Service in both the Atlantic and Mediterranean Middle East War Zone, as an Ensign First Class Radiotelegraph Operator, holding his AFC license until October 2014.  Following his service he received his BSEE degree from the University Of Colorado. Mr. Palmer traveled extensively and could speak English, French and German.   He lived in the USA and Europe. He had varied and rewarding career positions including: Radio Marine Operator on freighters, tankers and passenger ships; VP data information systems division – DATA Trend, Inc.; VP international operations – Perkin-Elmer; Executive VP-Chief Operating Officer – International Software Enterprise, Inc.; Marketing Director, Simulator Sales – Conductron Missouri; VP Program Management – ITT; and General Manager DATA Communications Division – ITT Brussels, Belgium. His career brought him many major accomplishments including; proposal and negotiation of a contract for a message switching system for Trans World Airlines, and serving as Chief Engineer of computer systems installation at SAC, HDQ. After retiring he continued his education and received an MBA and served as a management consultant and taught classes at FIT in Melbourne. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy, when she was 26 years old, and his second wife, Norma in 2008 at the age of 83. Richard and Norma will be placed at Jacksonville FL National Cemetery on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 2pm.  Military honors are scheduled at that time for Mr. Palmer.
