Obituary of James D. Schorr
Jim Schorr, 76, of Rockledge, Florida, died Monday, August 27, 2018 at Viera Hospital in Viera. Jim was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Wyoming High School in 1960. He received his BA at Indiana University in 1965 and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati 1968.
He worked at Circles of Care in Brevard County for 27 years before retiring in 1996. Jim was a active member at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and served on the vestry for over 18 years. Jim was also a Lay Eucharistic Minister and choir member at St. Mark’s.
Jim is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 53 years, his daughters Lisa Baggett and her husband Steve of Titusville and Emily Menswar and her husband Brant of Cocoa, his daughter-in-law Lindsey McKay of San Diego California, his five grandsons, Dylan and Samuel Baggett, Theodore and Brady Menswar and Michael McKay, Kim Allen his long time care giver, and his sister Judith Davis of Dayton, Ohio. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Alva Schorr, his sister Jean Smith and his son James.
Jim, who had been confined to a wheel chair for many years was known for his quick wit, quiet confidence and deep faith in God. His family, friends and former patients held him in high regard.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 4 Church St., Cocoa, Florida with a reception following in the parish hall. Internment of ashes will be in the church garden for family members.
