Sigi and Alix hosted my husband and me about 13 years ago in Galliopolis. They were amazing, warm, kind and intelligent people who opened their home to spend the day with us. Alix knew my first cousins in Reichenberg, Austria (Liberec, C.R.) as young children and I found her through an interesting set of searches. I am sorry to learn of Sigis' passing and would love to be able to reach Alix if I can.
Blessings to the family -

My grandfather was a man overflowing with energy. It wasn’t uncommon that, during our visits, he was always in bed late and up, doing things around the house, early. He loved to talk with everyone and always thought the best of people. It is no surprise that he chose to become a doctor because it was a job he was clearly born to do. He was as comfortable telling his own stories as he was listening to other people tell theirs. There are not many people like him in the world and it is a true loss that he is gone.
You are missed, opa.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Sig. We lived next door to Sig and Alix in Greystone where they were snowbirds for many years.
Sig was a true treasure. His generosity, zest for life and positive outlook on everything will always be remembered.
We missed him when he left the “hood” and think of him often.
Alix-we are always here for you if you need us.
All our love,
The Foland Family-Tim, Tina, Tyler and Tommy

Dear Alix, Lisi Tom and Family
I was very sorry to hear about Sigi’s passing and am very sorry for your loss.
Alix and I share a special connection due to her relationship with my father as a “favorite uncle” when she was a young girl
I am very grateful to Alix for establishing a connection with me after many years.
I had the privilege to be invited to their house and to meet Sigi. I found him to be very interesting knowledgeable
and a great pleasure to talk to.
My heartfelt sympathy,
George

Dear Alix, Tom, Lisi and Family,
Herta and I share your sorrow.
It is a very sad time when one loses such a great, kind, considerate and intelligent Man.
Sigismund was that! Plus I considered him my Best Friend since the time I was fortunate to meet him walking on Satellite Beach over 15 years ago.
Our similar German Ancestry and our many common interests gave us many pleasant hours together with Sigi & Alix.
We will surely miss this Man we admired and looked up to!
We are looking forward to seeing you Alix upon our return to Florida about September 10 th.

1962 I worked as service manager at VW of Huntington in West Virginia.
On one occasion, I was talking to a new customer who brought his VW for repair. Each of us had a strong German accent that prompted the gentleman right away to address me with: “I know where you live and also that you have a son”. I wondered how he knew. Dr. Harder then told me that he just passed a house in Proctorville, Ohio, where a little boy in leather pants played in the front yard. Bingo!
That was the beginning of a life-long beautiful friendship of our families which took us from sailing on the Ohio River in Sigi’s day sailer to sailing 1996 in our yacht “Rocinante” in the Caribbean. In the intermediate years, mostly enjoyable and fun-filled experiences, we joined in many endeavors, accompanied always by songs and music. But, there also were dark hours as both of our families lost a child. Each of us knew what the other went through.
Our daughter’s passing 2002 left us at advanced ages to become parents again to her newborn. Alix and Sigi then instantly took over the role of loving grandparents to Kassandra. That love remained well into the present. Sigi and Ama – we thank you for that wonderful friendship. It certainly enriched lour lives. Sigi you will be sorely missed. Alix to you and Lisi and Tommy with your families our dearest heart-felt sympathy. We are certain, Alix that we will spend many hours yet reminiscent of the past with you.
Lots of Love: Marille, Manfred and, of course, Kassandra.

Gute Reise, mein lieber, mein ältester Freund! Dein Horst

Sig was incredibly positive, enthusiastic, and kind, with an unstoppable life force. He loved poetry, music, and most of all, people. His brilliant intellect never overshadowed his sense of decency, and his belief in “going above and beyond” to serve others. We were very lucky to have him in our lives. We love you, Buppa.
