Mark was allways an inspiration to me during my police career. When talking to him you could tell he was genuinely listening to you even when things were hectic. His positive spirit and wit will be forever with me. He is truly a hero due respect and honor.

I met Mark when we both started Edgewood in 7th grade. We became instant friends, played on the school basketball team together, and participated in a 7th grade food fight that resulted in his nickname “potato head” (flying, mashed). Always an easy laugh. I have only seen him infrequently over the years, but this is still very hard for me. Love and encouraging thoughts to his family.

Our hearts go out to Mark, his family and his Brothers. Our prayers are with you all. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with Mark years ago. The memories I have of him will forever bring a smile to my face. He was an amazing man and I hope you are finally at peace my friend. It saddens us to not be able to attend the celebration of your life tomorrow, but know that we will be thinking of you all.
With heavy hearts RIP and God Bless

I miss you Dad... Every. Damn. Day.... It hurts to think about you, I miss you so much.
I hope you're okay Dad. I'll always keep your memory and name alive. You were only in my life for 13 years, but you have changed me for my entire life, and shaped me in so many different ways. I'll never forget your contagious laugh, or your brilliant keen, and witty sense of humor. You may have worked a lot, and we had some troubles, but you were the best father I could've ever asked for. I love you Dad.

I will always remember Mark as a great officer to have on the other side of the radio. He was so calm and respectful throughout the most chaotic times. I feel very fortunate to have worked with and known Mark. I also feel fortunate that he was a part of Jesse’s training early in his career. We have all lost a great person and friend. May you have found the peace you are so deserving of Mark. Until we meet again.

Mark was many things to many people. I will always remember his lofty laugh, wit, passion for his beliefs, and dedication to his family, career and friends. He was one of the most down to earth people I knew, intelligent and genuine. He spoke with such intensity, as to captivate all in his audience, with such ease. We shared a love of kayaking and he often told me of his adventures. Most of all, Mark would light up when talking about, his son, Jake. Mark was so proud of all Jake’s accomplishments. I think we are all heartbroken over the despair he must have been experiencing and wished there was anything we could have done for him. I pray you are at peace, Mark, in heaven, with God’s arms wrapped around you. I am a better person for having known you and I thank you for being part of my journey. My prayers go out to you and all of your family.

Mark was a close friend of our son Kent Kellar. We spent some time with Mark on a trip to the World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tenn. It was an enjoyable time with a very enjoyable young man. We shall always remember Mark and our memories will be special. He was a special young man.
