I always had a sense of awe for my cousin Alan. Alan to me seemed to know everything – how to fish, how to use a jackknife, how to explain things – how to care enough to talk to a chattering 8 year old and, best of all, just knowing he was there as we shared a room in an old farmhouse I swear was haunted! Alan’s mischievous glance would bring a smile to any face and I am sure there are many a tale yet to be told about his exploits. Years later, we spent some time chatting about our relatives and life in general; I still value that discussion and insights. To my beloved cousins Laurie, Norah, and Anne please know that you are loved. May God support you all during this trying time. And, Alan, you’re still my hero…we’ll continue our discussions on the other side one day.
