Laurie, Anne, and Nora… I am so sorry to hear this news! My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of Alan’s family. He was a great guy, and great neighbor back in Fairfax in the early 70’s. I am so glad I was able to visit him and your mom in Maine in 2011.

Dear Allen family…I had the privilege of being in the same veteran group meetings with Allen. The first time I met Allen, it was obvious he was a very kind soul who had compassion for many others sharing similar life’s experiences. My visit at the memorial service left me wishing I got to know him better as I could see we have many similar interests with fishing, aviation and photography. I will always have a great amount of respect for his sacrifice to our country. He was loved by all of us who got to know him at our veterans group and will be deeply missed. God bless you always. Romans 8:38-39.

Laurie, your brother seemed like a wonderful person to be around. I’m so sorry I never got to meet him. He certainly made lots of friends during his moving from one place to another. He certainly loved life.
Again, I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved brother.
Love Chris

Alan, I know the contribution you made to the Rural Carrier Craft and the Postal Service was immense. You was a breath of fresh air and ‘common sense’, and you helped guide the Rural Carrier Union through difficult times and made them viable to this century. For those people that still have their jobs as Rural carriers, I thank you..

Alan……what a lovely man. You are missed so much, my heart is saddened by your passing. How thoughtful and kind, offering to come and help me care for my husband when he was very ill. A wonderful friend to me and so many. We had such fun times together. Thank you, thank you for being part of my life. Love, Pam

I miss you Uncle Al. Especially your commitment to mischief, making sure everyone had good book lists to read, your confetti birthday cards, and making us feel special. Love and peace, Megan

I always had a sense of awe for my cousin Alan. Alan to me seemed to know everything – how to fish, how to use a jackknife, how to explain things – how to care enough to talk to a chattering 8 year old and, best of all, just knowing he was there as we shared a room in an old farmhouse I swear was haunted! Alan’s mischievous glance would bring a smile to any face and I am sure there are many a tale yet to be told about his exploits. Years later, we spent some time chatting about our relatives and life in general; I still value that discussion and insights. To my beloved cousins Laurie, Norah, and Anne please know that you are loved. May God support you all during this trying time. And, Alan, you’re still my hero…we’ll continue our discussions on the other side one day.
