Obituary of Donna Mae Garcia

On Monday, August 26, 2019, Donna Mae Garcia (Borden) passed away at the age of 72. Donna was born to Dorothy Queen and Hugh Follensbee in Portland, Maine. She received a Master’s Degree in Communication from the University of Southern Maine. She became a career counselor at the University of Southern Maine where she was an education advocate for veterans. She was very passionate about her work and inspired all those she assisted. She had a natural love of life that made people want to spend time with her. During the short summers in Maine if the sun was shining, you would be sure to find Donna at her favorite spot on Willard Beach. She would be there from sunrise to sunset and often accompanied by friends and family. She retired to Florida where she truly was able to engage in her passion for gardening. She was always planting flowers and shrubs around her home. Donna is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Hugh, brother, Donald, and sister Jodi. She is survived by her children: Tracy Downs & Bryan Ripley, Thomas Heatley, Jr, his wife Jennifer, and Matthew Borden & wife Dana, her sister, Mary Follensbee, grandchildren, Alexis Downs, Julie Heatley, Justin & wife Tya Heatley, and Jacob Heatley, great grandson, Jaxton Pariso, nephew Donald Foss, Jr. his wife Melissa, and niece Tricia Foss.
