Obituary of John “Larry” McGaughey

McGaughey – John “Larry”, 72, passed away October 14th 2017. Larry was born on April 30th, 1945 in Newton, MA to the late John “Jack” McGaughey and Helen O’Donnell. He graduated from Mass. Maritime Academy and was a dedicated marine engineer for the Energy Transportation Corporation for the length of his career. He was happily married to his wife, Kathleen Callahan, for 38 years before her passing in 2008, and spent the last 30 years of his life in Melbourne Beach, FL. With his jovial demeanor and giving heart, he was loved by many. He will be sadly missed by his companion, Carol Barnes (Melb. Beach, FL), his son, Daniel McGaughey (Denver, CO), and his siblings, Evelyn McGaughey O’Hare (Palm Bay, FL), Patrick & Corey (W) McGaughey (Sandwich, MA), and Martha Cunniff (MA). Predeceased by his brother Nick McGaughey who passed in 1981. The celebration of his life will be on November 4th 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Oasis Bar, 300 Ocean Ave, #2, Melbourne Beach.
