Obituary of Marion Davidson Herder
Mrs. Marion Davidson Herder of Indialantic, Florida passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 at the miraculous age of 101.
She was born December 18, 1917 to Thomas Rutter and Ada Crawford of Nyack, New York. They relocated to Wakonda, South Dakota where she grew up. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing where she was named in the Who’s Who of American Colleges. She had a vibrant career in nursing, beginning with the United States Public Health Service and retiring as an instructor at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
She married Dr. Robert Herder on November 22, 1941 in Staten Island, New York. They made their home in Wheaton, Minnesota, and Breckenridge, Minnesota. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge and was an avid ballroom dancer. She loved to travel and passed on her legacy of adventure to her grandchildren, taking them on many memorable trips.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Herder Dargie, Indialantic, Florida, granddaughter, Ann Gladd and husband Travis, Wilbraham, Massachusetts, granddaughter, Elisabeth Dargie, Tacoma, Washington, grandson, Robert Dargie and wife Amberly, Gastonia, North Carolina granddaughter, Amanda Dargie, Daytona Beach, Florida and great granddaughter Emma Grace Dargie.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Holly Herder, and sisters Beverly Lovett and Dorothy Neary.
Her family and friends can take comfort knowing she is free to dance again. She most certainly has
reunited with her sisters and the Davidson girls are once again dancing the Charleston.
A memorial service will be held May 18 at 10am, at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street in Melbourne.
