Obituary of William H. “Bill” Michaud
William H. “Bill” Michaud of Caribou, Maine, and Melbourne, Florida, passed away on January 26, 2019, after a long illness. Bill was born on February 2, 1932, in Caribou, Maine, son of the late Mildred (Snowman) Michaud and Paul Michaud. After graduating from Caribou High School, Bill joined the U.S. Army stationed at both Fort Monmouth, NJ, and Fort Eustis, VA, where he received training in electronics technology. Following his military service, Bill held several positions in the technology and business spaces. In 1964, Bill started a 28 year career with the United States Postal Service serving in the positions of clerk, carrier, safety officer and postmaster.
In 1953, Bill married Marjorie Cormier and they had three children. Bill loved playing and watching sports, especially golf with his sons in their weekly summer matches at the Lucerne Country Club, his weekly winter outings with the Lakes of Melbourne golf club, bowling league and cards with Marge and Laurie as well as the guys at the clubhouse.
Bill is survived by Marjorie, his wife of 65 years, children William Michaud and wife Laura, Laurie Thibodeau and husband Cliff and Todd Michaud and fiancé Sherry Cota, all of whom Bill was very proud. Also surviving are sisters Betty Fowler and husband Dale, Beverly McNeal and brother Paul Michaud and wife Shirley. Bill was predeceased by his parents and his beloved grandson Derek Thibodeau. Bill will also be missed by his cat, Buffy, who he enjoyed immensely.
In June, a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor, Maine, followed by his burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer gifts in Bill’s memory may do so through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
