Obituary of Ida Mae Harmeson

Age:101 Passed Away: Dec. 9, 2019 Born in Osgood, Indiana on March 5, 1918 to Grace and Clarence Avery.  She graduated from Anderson High School in 1935 and married Donald H. Harmeson December 24, 1938.  In Anderson she was a member of the First Baptist church and attended Methodist Church in Port Richey, Florida.  She and Donald had 2 sons, Thomas D. (Sherri) and Neil H. (Kim).  She enjoyed being the wife of a farmer, cooking and canning.  She also enjoyed doing crafts such as Tole painting and crocheting. Ida Mae was a teller for several years at the Edgewood branch of the Anderson Banking Co.  She enjoyed being with her family and was a great example of being content wherever she was. After marriage, she and Donald lived in Anderson until GM sent Donald to Bedford, IN, to start the foundry.  They lived in Mitchell, IN.  They returned to Anderson to run the Harmeson farm.  Retirement took them to Port Richey, FL.  The returned to Indiana in 1999 and lived in Pendleton.  After Donald’s death in 2004, she moved to Harter House and in 2010, moved to Indian Harbour Beach, FL, to be with family. Her parents, her husband, in-laws, Homer and Ivory Harmeson, two sisters, Margaret Patterson and Mary Gray, two sisters-in-law’s, Nondas Kessler and Martha McGranahan, as well as several nieces and nephews precede her in death. Surviving family includes her two sons and their wives, grandchildren, Donald “Chip” Harmeson (Vick), Krista Rae Graham (Kenny), Karyl Ann Harmeson, Todd Harmeson (Shawn), and Derek Harmeson.  In addition, her sister-in-law, Ann Hardacre and several nieces and nephews, Cristy LeMay, Beverly Wright, Dale Gray (Brenda), Patricia Walls (Frank), Debbie Hinkle, Don Gray (Carolyn) as well as others. She also has seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A celebration of life for both, Ida Mae and Donald will be held at a later date.
