Sheila and I are deeply grieved at this news. Few individuals have touched our family the way Cary and his amazing wife Betty have. They selflessly taught our children to appreciate the beauty of the Central Florida area with canoe trips and nature hikes. From Herons to Hammocks to stories of their grandmother they heard from no one else, Betty and Cary’s influence on our children is irreplaceable. I have no idea how I will tell them of his passing. Our memories of Cary span two generations. Before he was “Uncle Cary” to our children, they were both “Aunt Betty and Cary to me and my younger brother. I still remember Cary taking me and Burton, as young children, on a fishing trip where we stayed overnight at their home in Cocoa off Clearlake Road and I spilled Coca-Cola on their carpet. I was horrified but they were both so gracious. I never forgot that. We got up at “0-Dark-Thirty” (I learned that phrase from him) and went on a grand adventure. Not only did Cary teach us to fish but what was far cooler, he taught us to flip pop bottle tops by placing them between our thumb and middle finger and snapping sending them flying.

I have so many wonderful memories of Cary Lee when we were growing up. Our families had a wonderful time together and we cousins played together and made lots of memories that I hold in my heart now and forever. I pray for peace for his sweet family in your time of grief.

Working with Cary for 14 years was always a pleasure, he worked hard for the veterans of Brevard County and for his family and friends and his feathered friends. He always had a funny antidote for everything and kept you laughing. We had many a long talk about all kind of subjects, he was loved by most and he will be missed by many. RIP my dear friend. and condolences to his lovely wife Betty, his children, grandchildren and extended family. I regret that our little veterans family and spouses didn’t get to have dinner together after we all retired.

Cary was one of those rare individuals who always looked out for everyone else. Through his work with our veterans and the the thousands of hours he spent patiently teaching about Florida’s environment, Cary touched the lives of many many grateful people. He will be missed.
