Obituary of Yvon Aurel Richard
Yvon Aurel Richard passed away January 6, 2017. Yvon was born on April 7, 1923 in Rexton New Brunswick to Alphonse and Basilice Richard.
He attended school at St. Joseph's College later known as University of Moncton, in New Brunswick.
Yvon worked in road construction and traveled throughout the Maritimes where he met his first wife Ruth Hebb (mother of Christine and Elaine). They moved to Ontario where he worked as a manager at Disher-Farrand from 1958 to 1973.
In 1973, Yvon was offered an opportunity to work in land development for Century Village, in Florida. Following this, he became a permanent resident in the United States.
Yvon was a Rotarian for over 50 years and did extensive volunteer work with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Yvon served as a Guardian ad Litem in the State of Florida Program and was appointed as a mediator for the Florida Supreme Court. Throughout his life, Yvon also dedicated considerable time to his community and church.
He had many interests and especially loved music and motor sports. Yvon was an avid boater and canoer who enjoyed navigating the rivers and lakes in Ontario and Florida.
Yvon is survived by his spouse Margaret Leinster, his daughters Christine Richard (Dennis) and Elaine Richard, step daughters Peggy Cavanaugh (Thomas) and Patricia Hicks (James), brother Leo Paul Richard, as well as his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Nola Leblanc Cormier.
A service will be held at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday January 20, 2017.
