Obituary of Ralph P. Meagher
Ralph P. Meagher, 92 of Cape Canaveral, FL and formerly of Saranac Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Cape Canaveral.
Born on January 24, 1926 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of James H. and Claire (Hornby) Meagher.
Mr. Meagher attended St. Bernard’s School in Saranac Lake and Saranac Lake High School. After serving as a radio operator in the Air Force during World War II, he began a 30 year career with the railroad until his retirement in 1984.
He is survived by two sons: Richard Meagher and his wife Maria of Cape Canaveral, FL and David Meagher of Schenectady; two sisters: Carolyn Shaheen of Tupper Lake and June Predice of New Port Richey, FL; two brothers: Bernard Meagher of Ticonderoga and Vincent Meagher of Rochester; six step children: Paul Reichhart of Weedsport, Donald Reichhart of Malone, Gregory Reichhart of Potsdam, James Reichhart of Watertown, Therese Drobner of Stuyvesant and Stephen Reichhart of Westernville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his first wife of 34 years, Joyce (Monica) Meagher, and his second wife of 21 years, Dorothy (Reichhart) Meagher; three sisters: Eileen Grady, Bernice Niccolls and Doris Schmidt; and three brothers: Arthur, Albert and Gerard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake in the summer. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
