Obituary of Vonda A. Luke
Vonda Andreu Luke was born February 24th 1924 in St. Augustine, Florida. Her parents were Peter Palmer Andreu and Clara Belle Miller Canova Andreu. Her father died four years after her birth in a tragic accident while working for the Florida East Coast Railway. He was transporting an injured coworker to the hospital in his automobile when his car was struck by a train. She had two brothers Alger and Peter Andreu: a sister, Betty Lou Felles, and a step-brother, Leonard Royce Underwood.
Vonda Andreu married Robert Adrian Luke, in Tallahassee, Florida on December 25th 1943. Being married to a sailor in the United States Navy, Vonda spent time living in Palatka, Fl while he was overseas, raising Robert Jr. Later they lived in Jacksonville while stationed in NAS Jax. From there they relocated to Norfolk and then Virginia Beach, VA. where he was stationed at NAS Norfolk and then NAS Oceana (VB). In 1967 they left Virginia Beach and relocated to Northern Virginia in the city of Alexandria
where her husband worked for Grumman in the Civil Service. Robert brought Vonda to Florida where they purchased +óGé¼+ôLuke+óGé¼Gäós Grove+óGé¼-¥ in St. Cloud located in Osceola County in 1974, where together they worked tirelessly growing, packing, selling and shipping various citrus throughout the country.
Robert Sr. passed away in 2003 and then Vonda relocated to West Melbourne where she resided with her 2 dogs +óGé¼+ôSailor+óGé¼-¥ and +óGé¼+ôLucy+óGé¼-¥ a dachsund that still lives today at nearly 17 years old!
Vonda leaves behind her 2 sons Robert Jr. and Michael Luke who reside in South Brevard county.
Vonda passed away in the late morning of March 7th, 2016 while resting comfortably in her bed at the Anchor Care Rebab and Skilled Nursing in Pt. Malabar (Palm Bay). Vonda+óGé¼Gäós family would like to thank the staff at Anchor Care for their excellent job in caring for and treating our mother during the final 9 weeks of her life.Viewing will be at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Road SE Palm Bay on Sunday, March 13th 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM
The +óGé¼+ônon-service+óGé¼-¥ burial will take place at Mount Peace Cemetery in St. Cloud on 10th St. next to Robert Sr.+óGé¼Gäós gravesite on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM.Although no formal +óGé¼+ôservice+óGé¼-¥ will occur at this location, certainly all those in attendance at the Funeral Service will be welcome to join Robert Jr. and Michael Luke for this event as well.
