I met you some time in April. You were gruff and very rough around the edges. What did I expect, you were from Mass. Us NY’ers know how you Mass’ers are, so I went with the flow. I never once thought that you were anything but the nice and kind man that you are. But something changed mid to late June. You started to laugh. A LOT. You started to smile. A LOT. And you started to sing, at work, in an office, and not badly (I might add). Our last shift together we were both singing. You were happy. I had heard that you had never been that happy. I knew why. I had seen the looks you gave each other. I meant it when I said to both of you that I was happy that you were happy. That you made each other happy. That was all I ever wanted for you.
The only other thing that I ever wanted FROM you was someone to finally talk hockey with. I was so looking forward to the first week in October. Heck the last 2 weeks of September during the pre-season. I had someone that knew as much about it as I do, and now I don’t. And you were a goalie!!! WTH?!?!? I have always had a soft spot for the goalie (on any team). That explains why we got along so well at work. I am very mad at you for denying me those conversations. AND that I can’t yell at you when I get brain freezes from that HUGE Slurpee straw you got me the day before you died.
I am sorry that I never met your children before you died. Please watch over them. They really need your guidance in this cruel and unforgiving world. Remember to find my dad. He liked hockey too. And you’re lucky, he didn’t have a favorite. I’m sure you can sway him to the Bruins easily cuz he did think Marchand has spunk.
To all of Carl’s family in Mass, please accept my most heartfelt condolences. I know your hearts are breaking just like all of ours down here. Please know that all of us will have you in our thoughts as you lay him to rest tomorrow.
Godspeed.

We feel the loss of Heaven’s gain. God rejoiced as his son came home and understands our greif and pain of staying here on Earth without him. My hope and prayer is that we all find peace and comfort knowing Carl was the happiest he had ever been at the end if his days. He was loved well and took his last breath a peaceful place. I am truly sorry that our time with him was so short.

I would like to extend my condolences for the loss of your loved one. All of us have experienced the pain of death in some way, sad to say. At difficut times like this we are confronted with the stark reality of how precious and fragile life can surely be. I am sending this condolence to you with the hope that in some small way you may be comforted from the Bible, as myself, and so many others have been. God’s only-begotten son, Jesus promises that one day he is going to bring back to life all those who have died (John 5:28, 29) Just as death is an enemy to us, it is also an enemy to God (1Corinthians 15:26). For that reason as well as others, He promises to remove forever all the pain, suffering, wickedness, and even DEATH FOREVER! Truly what a glorious and almost unbelievable time that will be!! I do hope that you are able to find endurance through these promises from the Bible.
