I was Mr. Gasaway’s hygienist for many years. He was such a kind, caring and interesting man. We talked of his careers, family and food. I will remember his sense of humor and his dedication to his wife. I am so sorry for your loss.

I knew Jim at Kadena and was a great friend at Misawa plus being my boss. He had a great sense of humor as anyone who knew him knows. He encourage me to get a better education an remained a friend after we both retired. I’ll miss his yearly Christmas cards and letters.

My condolences to Jim’s children and other family members. I first met Jim at Yokota AB, Japan and then had the privilege of working with him at Patrick AFB/CCAFS. Last time I saw Jim was at a Publix, I had just returned from an out of state trip and learned his wife had passed away while I was gone. Jim was a fine person and will be missed but not forgotten. Jim was like a father to me when we spent a year together in Mukdahan Thailand in 1969. I was only 21 at the time and Jim Was 37. We flew on the same military transport from California to Bangkok on Christmas Eve 1968 and traveled together to Mukdahan. He took me under his wing and watched out for me while we were there. I am so glad my wife and I were able to visit Jim last year and spend a night with him at his house. We shared so many good memories and had some good laughs. I will miss Jim and his wonderful sense of humor. He was never afraid to laugh at his own jokes.

Jimbo was one of my ever faithful Facebook friends. Knew him from Misawa AFB in the 70’s and Sachi was one of my long time UOM Japanese language teachers. Remember Jim mostly for his friendship, creativeness and humor. He certainly is missed.
