Donna was a beautiful young woman when I met her at BHSN 1961. We were members of a fantastic group of young women who were there to become nurses.
By golly, most of us managed to hang in there and graduate in 1964. After graduation we dispersed in different directions. I did not see Donna again until 2018 when we reconnected prior to our BHSN Banquet/Reunion. We texted and made our plans to visit when we all got together again in Cincinnati in April. We made arrangements to stay at the same hotel along with some of our other classmates.
Jim and Donna flew in from Fl. It was apparent there was a deep attachment between the two of them. She enjoyed that time so much! Jim tried hard to understand these grown women who were like teenagers again. He was such a good sport!
I felt that Donna and I developed a bond as adults. She would send me pictures of her watercolors with the gorgeous colors. Although, I knew she was sick, I did not know of Jim’s health issues. Hearing of their passing from our mutual friend, Jan, was a shock. I will carry Donna’s memory with me and the fun we had over those two days. She was beautiful inside and out!
RIP you two lovely people. Condolences to their families and especially those closest to them!

I have been traveling off and on recently so, as timing is everything, I just heard of the passing of Jim and Donna. My late husband and I were their next door neighbor on Rockledge Drive and we remained friends after their move to Merritt Island. I was shocked and sad to hear of their passing. I will always remember the 4th of July parties and eating dinner with them in the kitchen of their condo (sometimes with Kevin). They had a great love for each other which seemed to get stronger the longer I knew them. I will miss them.

Three sisters, Donna, Brenda and Joanne.
Ten years apart by birth from oldest Donna to youngest Joanne but all together ever trying to meld the extended family. Donna was the controller!
She was beautiful with a great smile and truly beautiful eyes. I was always envious of her poise, looks and artistic talents.
I will miss giving her hugs – that I needed – but she did not.
Remembering Cincinnati when you took care of me, Big Sister.
Love.
The youngest

We are so sorry for your double loss. My husband Harry McKnight is Donna’s cousin. Harry and her mother Lillian were cousins and her grandmother Annie and Harry’s mother Cora were very close sisters. We are grateful we got to visit with Lillian in Cape Coral and also with Donna and Jim in Merritt Island, and get to know them. We loved Donna’s beautiful paintings of flowers. She was not only a wonderful caring nurse but a talented artist. Donna was an amazing fighter and I remember a while back with her illness how she surprised everyone after she was in hospice and recovered and went home to spend more happy years. It is hard to say goodby but we know we will see her on the other side. So sorry for the families loss. We will miss both Donna and Jim.

There will be a service for my sister, Donna Honig, 11:00 on Friday, December 20, at Georgianna United Methodist Church, 3925 South Tropical Trail, on Merritt Island. This was Donna’s adopted church, and she found so many welcoming friends there. Pastor Corky Calhoun was a significant leader in strengthening her faith and directing her heart in God’s love.
