Obituary of Barbara Jean Eagan Terhune
Barbara Jean Eagan Terhune of Indiatlantic, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 19, 1931 in Brockton, Massachusetts to William and Mary Eagan, Barbara graduated from Brockton High School. Marrying in 1959, she and her husband moved to Florida where they joyfully welcomed their son, Brian, into their family on July 7, 1962 in St. Petersburg.
Barbara worked in administration for Jim Walters Corporation in Tampa until moving to Melbourne in 1977 where she worked for Harris Corporation as the Executive Administrator in business development for 25+ years. Professional accolades include certificates of recognition and achievement for her contributions as an example of teamwork and dedication to professionalism. She was also commended for being the “front door” to business development management team.
Active in women’s clubs and sororities throughout her life, Barbara was the treasurer of Beta Sigma Phi for the last 7 years. Pledged in 1971 in Tampa, she transferred to the Melbourne chapter and was a member since 1977. This social society enjoys fellowship events together, but is also involved in community service taking on new projects including helping veterans and disabled individuals.
Barbara’s hobbies included reading, traveling, shopping, dinner and movies with friends, and spending time with family. Travel destinations include Italy, cruises to Alaska, Caribbean Islands, Mexico, day trips around Florida and visiting her son in Oregon.
She was a member and faithful attendee of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church of Indialantic for 20 years.
Barbara is survived by her son, Brian, daughter-in-law, Patty, grandson, Jake all from Oregon City, OR; brother, William J. of St. Petersburg, and 4 nieces and 1 nephew. She is predeceased by her sisters Mary Eagan and Sheila Schuck both of St. Petersburg.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Ammens Family Cremation & Funeral Care at 1001 Hickory Street, Melbourne, FL 32901 with a private gathering and reception to follow.
