Obituary of Josephine P. Moroney

Josephine “Jo” Moroney, 88, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014. Born Mary Patricia Walsh on June 16, 1926 in St. Ann’s Orphanage, Washington, DC, she was adopted by William and Agnes Pratt. Jo was schooled in California and worked for Quartermaster Corps in the Heraldic Section in the early 1940’s and in the mid 1940’s was a ceramic decorator in Los Angeles. She married William Moroney in Tujunga, CA on October 16, 1948 and received her PHT (Putting Hubby Through) from Pacific States University in 1962. She moved to Florida in 1963 where she was a homemaker and raised three children.She worked hard and obtained her GED in 1966. She volunteered at Delaura Junior High School and volunteered at the Palm Bay Sharing Center from 1990 to 2006. She suffered much in her later years with cancer and back problems but seldom complained and always had a smile for everyone. She was preceded in death by her loving son Timothy. She is survived by her devoted husband William, son William Moroney Jr., daughter and son in law Nancy and Sean Devaux and four grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Palm Bay.
