Obituary of Jean Evangelista

Jean Evangelista (nee’ Perna), 89, of Melbourne passed away peacefully on September 9, 2015. Born in Newark, NJ to the late Andrea and Jennie Perna, Jean was the youngest of six siblings, five sisters and one brother. Jean lived in Bloomfield, NJ and Brick, NJ before retiring to Melbourne in 1991. Jean and Ted Evangelista resided in the Melbourne community of Suntree until their move to The Fountains in 2010. Jean graduated from Arts High, a magnet public high school in the University Heights section of Newark, NJ, specializing in the visual and performing arts. She was employed by the Bell Telephone Company as a supervisor of the Long Distance and Information operators in Bloomfield, NJ. Jean separated from Ma Bell to start a family. Once her two children were in enrolled in school, Jean earned a beautician certificate and worked in the salon at Steinbach’s upscale department store in Brick, NJ. She later completed certification as an Interior Decorator and applied her craft for Cathy Arnold Fashions in Manasquan, NJ. In their retirement, Jean and Ted traveled about the Continental United States and ventured to Europe, touring Austria, France, Germany and Italy. Jean will be remembered for her widsom, keen insight, uplifting spirit for her family and friends,a love of laughter, her devotion to Ted and their shared pleasure in good food, fine wine and social ballroom dancing. Jean was the beloved wife of Theodore +óGé¼+ôTed+óGé¼-¥ Evangelista for 66 years (Anniversary in August 2015) who survives her. Jean is the cherished mother of Thea Doll (nee’ Evangelista) of Indialantic and Dr. Anne Evangelista and her husband Joe Rhodes of Summit, NJ. Jean is also survived by two grandchildren, Major Quintin Doll and Andrea Bell (Nee’ Doll). A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street, Melbourne.In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Jean Evangelista to the Vascular Disease Foundation, 550 M.
