My condolences to Dick’s Family and Friends. Dick and I go back to when he was an adjuster in the Hartford Field Office. I always enjoyed and respected his fairness and concern for folks in need. Over the years we remained in touch from time to time. I will miss his smile, genuine care for all, quiet manner and effective leadership style.
Heaven will be a better place with his presence.

It was a great pleasure to work with Dick, originally When I was in claims and laters in engineering. The depth and breadth of his knowledge was impressive. In spite of often contentious matters, he could keep things on track and find a way to resolve matters fairly. I knew I could rely on him and always learned from him. His wry sense of humor made working with him a joy.

I can not think of anyone who better exemplified the words “Most caring and kind boss ever!” Dick truly cared for his team. When tensions would increase he would always use the words “ be careful my son”. Never a harsh response but always a kind word. I will always remember his grace given to others and cherish his example as a wonderful friend.

Dick was a great boss, leader, man and friend. He made my last several years at Travelers a pleasure. He had a great way about himself. He encouraged all of those individuals that worked with him to exceed. He put together a great unit that made continuous progress due to his leadership. Dick was a great inspiration to many Travelers employees. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
