50 years ago, upon returning from Danang, Vietnam, Gary and Suzanne Shipman immediately befriended me. Suzanne and my wife had taught school together in New Port Richey, Fl during my overseas tour of duty. The Shipmans had a beautiful home with Gulf of Mexico access. Gary and I hit it off great. Fishing miles off shore in his boat, duck hunting on inland fresh water lakes, all things outdoors. Never once did Gary intrude into my Vietnam experiences. A truly great guy. University of Texas, Austin, TX, fellow Beta Theta Pi fraternity brother, charming wife with newborn child. I owe so much of my successful 're-entry' into life after Vietnam to Gary and Suzanne. Two marvelous people. What a shock to read of Gary's death. A great guy. My blessings to Suzanne and family from a grateful friend from way back. David W. Shroyer
