Obituary of Albert Norman Chamberland

In Commemoration of Albert N. Chamberland, Sr

ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA — Albert N. Chamberland Sr., 80, of Rockledge FL passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Tranquility Haven House.  He was born on July 16, 1936 in the Town of Uxbridge to Alphonse and Bertha Chamberland of Linwood, Massachusetts.

Mr. Chamberland wed the love of his life, Mary M. Hourihan on October 29, 1955 in Uxbridge, MA.  He worked a wide array of jobs at Drapers Corporation as a metal worker, Milford Hospital as a head cook, a Mendon MA Police Department Officer, and as a Worcester County Deputy Sheriff.  Albert was of a French-Canadian Abenaki/Micmac Indian descent with the given Indian name of “Big Heart” and loved being with his family, friends, camping, and fishing. Albert was a long-standing Charter member on the Mendon Lions Club and as a member on the New Hampshire Intertribal Native American Council.  Although he lived most of his life in Mendon, AL and Mary sought out a warmer climate and moved to Rockledge, Florida in 2014.

Albert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary M. (Hourihan) Chamberland, a son Albert N. Chamberland Jr and his wife Karen, a son Kenneth J. Chamberland and his wife Elizabeth, a son Carl R. Chamberland and daughter Ms. Tina L. Ames, along with 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" for Albert N. Chamberland, Sr. on April 29th, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Dr. Jey Pillai Center for Hospice Care at Wasdin Woods center, 661 Eyster Boulevard, Rockledge, FL 32955.  An interment of ashes will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge Ma. on May 20. 2017.  All family and friends are welcome to join in his Celebration of Life.
