Obituary of John L. Kirk

John L. Kirk Jr. passed away on February 7 , 2017 after a short illness in Rockledge FL. at the age of 89. John is survived by his Sister , Mary K. Rose ( George W. Rose) of St Albans W.V. , Daughter Nancy K. Blackford (Tim Quirk) of Rockledge FL. Grandson Micah Dunstone of Houston Texas , Grandson Allen Jeffrey Blackford (Christina) of Purcellville Va., Great Grandson Christian J. Blackford of Purcellville Va. Great Granddaughter Kiley N. Blackford whom he dearly cherished of Rockledge, FL., and His beloved golden retriever Diva . He is preceded in Death by his wife of 60 years Catherine (Doodle) Kirk , Daughter Karen Kim Kirk and His son Timothy L Kirk. John was born at home on April 29,1927 in St Albans W.V. to John Loyd Kirk and Agnes Dame Kirk. He treasured his early years growing up in a small town and the life long friendships that were made. After serving in the Army at the end of WWII John returned from the South Pacific to Graduate from William & Mary college with a Degree in Biology and Earning a Masters Degree in Teaching from Murray State University. After College John Taught Science and Coached multiple sports at Charleston High and Clendenin High School before leaving to work with Dupont at Medowbrook Recreation club. After deciding to move to Florida in 1962 he returned to his passion of coaching and teaching . John taught science and coached Football , track and basketball at Cocoa High for Over 24 years. His wish was to be remembered as One who fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.  2 Timothy 4:7 Memorial service will be held Saturday February 18th 2017 at 11:00 am Rockledge United Methodist Church, 1935 S Fiske Blvd, Rockledge , FL. 32955
