Obituary of Russell A. “Andy” Cooper

Russell A. “Andy” Cooper, Jr. passed away on June 4, 2018, in Melbourne, Florida. Andy was born in Bethlehem, PA, on July 12, 1949 to Marcy Cornman Cooper and Russell A. Cooper, Sr. In 1950, his family moved to Oak Ridge, TN. He grew up in Oak Ridge attending local schools and played football. Andy attended Tennessee Tech University, playing football and graduating with an Engineering degree. Andy worked for Union Carbide and retired from Martin Marietta Plant K-25. He was very active in supporting the Oak Ridge Boys (& Girls) Club, even after moving to Palm Bay, FL to care for his ailing parents. Andy retired from the Brevard County Building Department after working for 20 years as a Building Inspector. Andy is survived by his daughters, Heather (Karl) McGinnis and Amanda Cooper; grandchildren Diego Russell Aguilar, Olivia Molly McGinnis and Meredith Eowyn McGinnis; sister Anne (Leonard) Abbatiello; niece Catherine Abbatiello; and nephew Kevin Anthony Abbatiello. Andy will be deeply missed by his loving family and the many friends he made in Tennessee and Florida.
