Obituary of James Thomas Jeye
Hello Everyone,
Our Brother, James Thomas Jeye, passed away yesterday, September 14, 2019 in Melbourne, Florida. James died while sedated. He was without pain and under the care of the ICU. James was 70 years old. In his final years, he suffered from COPD, diabetes and Leukemia.
James had four different ambulance rides to the hospital over the last three months of his life, but he tried hard to maintain his independence. You might remember that he treasured driving and cars. He finally had to give those up just a few weeks ago. He somehow used the electric carts in Wal-Mart to do his shopping with his oxygen tank in hand. The trips there and back would exhaust him, and it generally would take him a couple of days to recover. He did it though. He had a great spirit. I hope he still can hear the lyrics to the Beach Boys “My 409” – we listened to it many times when we were young and driving non-stop from New Jersey to see the Daytona 500 – we were in a 1964 VW Beatle though!
Ironically, his Step-Grandson, Timothy, was to relocate from Atlanta to Melbourne to live with James on Saturday, September 14th. He obtained a new position with his company of 15 years in Melbourne. James and his wife Bobbie, cared for Timothy from the time he was 2 yrs old until he turned 18. They loved him very much.
Janice and I were able to say our goodbyes and express our love for him during his last hours.
James loved Florida and in particular the beaches and golf. We will have a sibling’s ceremony in Melbourne in the near future – at the beach!
Sincerely,
Michael
