Obituary of Joan Gibbs Tiley

Joan Gibbs Tiley, 84 of Melbourne, FL, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Melbourne. She was a native of New York, NY and moved to Melbourne in 1997 from Northport, NY. She was a graduate of S.U.N.Y. at Old Westbury, NY where she earned her BS degree. Following that she got her Master’s degree in social work at Adelphi University. She worked as a psychiatric social worker for years before her retirement. Joan was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church. Her father was Edward Harrison Gibbs, Sr. and mother was Frances Reid Gibbs. Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy O’Mara and Cynthia Tiley; one son, Brad Tiley; and sister-in-law Marie Gibbs. She was preceded by two children, Marianne Tiley, age 41, and Scott Tiley, age 46. Joan was widowed by husband, Robert R. Tiley, in 1974.A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 50 Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne.
