Obituary of John G. Sweeney
John G. (Capt. Jack) Sweeney 60 of Cape Canaveral, FL died on December 23, 2015 as a result of a work- related injury. Jack was born in Englewood, NJ and grew up in Union Beach, NJ. He was a Boy Scout and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Keyport High School. He worked at IFF for a number of years both in Union Beach and Dayton. He previously operated The Ranger and The Barb Gail II out of Atlantic Highlands Marina and in recent years he was employed in the marine industry and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 25 (Marine Division).
He was the son of Blanche and the late John E. (Duke) Sweeney. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his three sisters Carol (William) Schultz, Janet (Alfonse) Manochio, and Elizabeth Sweeney; two brothers Mark (Beth) and Paul (Irene) Sweeney; nieces Carrie (Tim) Birch, Caitlyn and Alexandra Sweeney; nephews Scott (Jillian) and David Apel and Ryan Sweeney; great niece Kaylee Birch; uncle William Hendra; and many cousins along with his companion Megan Igoe. He leaves behind many good friends and acquaintances who he met along his many adventures.
