Obituary of William Edward Morey

William Edward Morey III, 59, of Palm Bay FL was called home to be with our Lord on February 10, 2019. Born August 8, 1959 in Brooklyn NY to William & Arlene Morey. He was the oldest of 3 children. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. As a child, William grew up in the Great Kills area of Staten Island, NY. He spent his childhood playing baseball in the Great Kills Little League where his father was the head coach. William became active in the Goju Karate family as a teenager where he eventually earned his fourth-degree black belt and received his nickname “Sensei”. When William was 19, he enlisted in the United States Army and aspired to become an Airborne Ranger. He was honorably discharged in his early twenties due to injuries sustained during a parachute jump. He met his loving wife Barbara when he was 21 while on blind date. They fell in love and were married September 13, 1981. They gave birth to their first born shortly after and two more bundles of joy would follow. William’s pride and joy were his wife and children. In his mid-twenties, William entered the NYPD Police Academy and graduated to become a patrolman for the Brooklyn South Task Force where he served the City of New York with great pride. He was loved by his fellow officers as well as the public he served. Later in his career he was injured in the line of duty during a riot. While in the recovery process he was transferred to the 122 Precinct in Staten Island NY, where he later retired. William and his wife Barbara later moved to Palm Bay FL to live out his retirement. William is survived by his loving and devoted wife Barbara Morey, daughter Kimberly Feeney & son-in-law Eric Feeney, daughter Megan Morey- Bernard & son-in-law Jimmy Bernard, son William Edward Morey IV, Grandson William Patrick Morey, Mother-In-Law Josephine Smeraldi, Brother Timothy J. Morey and sister Kelly Ann Morey. He is also survived by his loving nieces, cousins and friends. William is pre-deceased by granddaughter Abbey Lynn Myers, Mother Arlene Morey and Father William Morey. His Memorial Service is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street, Melbourne FL.
