Obituary of Joseph Lloyd Selkow
Joe Selkow of West Melbourne passed away on September 5, 2019 at Homes Regional Medical Center. He was 61.
Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of Peggy Shaw and Lloyd Selkow. He was a painter by trade, a musician/comedian and creator of often creepy artwork.
Pets were his passion. Joe developed stupid pet tricks years before it became a television phenomenon, though never sought credit or acknowledgment for his innovation.
His influences include Herman Hesse, Hymen Roth, Alan Watts and Ed Wood.
He is survived by siblings Ed Selkow, Maggie Harp, Cindy Selkow, Rob (Gretchen) Selkow. Nieces Bethany (Nate) Lusk, Justine (Martin) Russum, Nephews Andrew Selkow, John (Brittney) Selkow, great nieces and nephews Sam, Joseph and Isaac Russum, Chloe, Keith and Gracie Selkow, Makyah and Katrielle Lusk.
At Joe’s request, there will be no public service or memorial because he did not want any inappropriate jokes made in his presence that he could not top.
In his final moments, he expressed gratitude to theatrical agent Danny Rose and mentioned that Eric DeNiro still owes him $20.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be to Humane Society of South Brevard, 2600 Otter Creek Ln. Melbourne, Fl 32904
