Betty and King Elliott:
We extend our most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Carole and family on the passing of her husband Duey. We got to know them soon after we moved to Indian Harbour Beach in 2011 and became friends. King and Duey were only a year apart in age and discovered many parallels in their early lives. Both started their careers in radio as disc jockeys playing jazz and big band music, Duey in South Dakota and King in Georgia. They both progressed into careers in public relations then branched out into other fields, but never left their big band and jazz music behind. The four of us had many happy times together and we will always miss Duey’s warm presence and good humor.
May God bless you and comfort Carole in your loss of a loving husband and fine man.

Several years ago, after playing for 4:30 Mass at HNJ, a tall, slender gentleman and his beautiful wife approached the piano to express their appreciation and curiosity regarding my keyboard skills!! From that moment forward, whenever I played at 4:30 Mass, I played for an audience of two: Duey and Carole. Although our interactions were usually brief and infrequent, Duey’s kindness and keen mind made a lasting impression and I treasure a bookmark he gave me with the words, “It is in a life of loving and serving that we will live again.” Amen Duey and Peace Carole.

We have so many fond memories of our times spent with Duey and Carole. One special moment is when we closed Coasters one night celebrating Scott’s birthday. Scott’s memories of helping with your book is a lasting proud moment because of the friendship you shared.
Scott says, “ Well, Duey, you have finished the last chapter of your life with grace and prayers unceasingly. Rest in His arms now in peace.”
Dearest Carole and family we want you to know that we thank you for sharing this great man with all of us. It is blessing God has given us.

Sorry for the families loss. He was my uncle. I remember he loved playing the piano and would really rock the house with jazz. Very talented as well as intelligent. A published author and I have one of his books. Very spiritual also. May he rest in peace at God’s side.

It wasn’t very long after we first met Duey and Carole in 2000 that it was very clear that Duey loved God first with Carole coming in a close second. Since that time we shared travel, dining, laughing, singing, crying, wine sipping, and countless other experiences. We saw that Duey always lived life with the faith, character, and class we all strive for. Duey was the kind of friend God sends to remind us that His love is everywhere. Just thinking of Duey brightens our day and puts happiness in our hearts. We are also surmising that Duey is challenging the angels on high with spiritual questions that may make them scratch their heads. We are sure missing you, a precious soul.
Love,
Al & Bev

What a gentle loving man. We were so lucky to have him as a neighbour and friend when we had our home in IHB. We treasure the memories we made on our get togethers and remember with great fondness the wonderful conversations we had.
Rest easy in the arms of your Lord.

To say that I’ve been blessed to have had this man as such an instrumental force in my life for so long, is an overwhelming understatement. I have spent every Wednesday afternoon with him since I was 15 and in that precious and irreplaceable time together, I have known unconditional love. I think I should write a book…”Wednesday’s with Duey.” Such precious adopted grandparents I have. I’ve seen him suffer for so long and have such joy knowing that he is finally where he has wanted to be for so long. There are no words other than “thank you” and “I love you.”

My dear friend,
My heart goes out to you and your family. What a wonderful “bride” you have been to this beautiful man.
The angels have gathered together to be with him in heaven and to add his beautiful voice to their choir.
Prayers and thoughts are with you. Everyone here (my mother, Ray, friends) send love and condolences.
Duey played a certain role in my life, and I am so very blessed to have known him…truly a remarkable ,
loving man ( and a non-metaphoric kind of poet).
My the Good Lord grant you peace and strength at this time. You two have been through a journey together
We love you, Ca
