Bowen Richards saved my life and the life of my best friend in late 1972, early 1973. We were caught in a Rip Tide at Kanova beach (now a dog park). We were pulled out nearly a quarter mile. Screaming for lifeguards who couldn’t hear us. My friend panicked and was pushing me under. Bowen was surfing that afternoon. He got there just in time. I told him to take my friend and I’d be fine treading water till he got back. He wouldn’t hear of it. Towed me in too. — A day or so later I drove to his house and told his parents what a real life hero he was.

RIP Bo. Even though you were an EX son in law, we loved you and we were still close. I remember you stopping by and visiting with us, having a beer or two with Randy, and enjoying our pool on a hot day. You loved my granddaughters like they were yours and you were always there when someone needed you. Even though we hadn’t seen each other lately, we still kept in touch. I’m going to miss you, Bo, but I know you are not in pain any more and in a better place. You were a GOOD person ❤️
