Obituary of Joan Eileen Taylor Secord

Joan Eileen Taylor Secord, aged 95, peacefully went to be with God on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018 in Palm Bay, Florida at 6:50 P.M.
Joan was born in London, England on March 24, l923 to Albert and Norah Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Nelson, and her husband John Austin Secord.
During World War II, 1938-1939 she received a scholarship to Rosa Basset Secondary School. A specific IQ and behavior were required to be accepted in such a school. The War forced the school to be moved and she was there until she was put on the train with her brothers and millions of other London children during the London Blitz. Her father missed his children so much that he soon retrieved and brought them back to London.
Later, Joan was swept off her feet by a dashing American, Sargent John A. Secord who soon made Joan his bride. They gave birth to their first son, John R. Secord. When the war ended John went home to find a place for them to live and soon after Joan brought 2 year old Richard over on the RMS Queen Mary.
First they lived in Canada, giving birth to Roger A. Secord, then completed the picture with the birth of their daughter, JoAnne Darlene Secord in Tampa, Florida.
They lived in Lexington, Michigan for 43 years. Joan worked for Great Lakes Rod and Reel for 16 years as Executive Secretary, then she became the sole office staff for their thriving piano business.
When their children married and moved away, their golden years were spent in Deltona, Florida.
Service Information: Joan’s final wishes included cremation and no public viewing.
