Obituary of Al Belardinelli

Alfred +óGé¼+ôAl+óGé¼-¥ Belardinelli, 69, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on July 24, 2015 surrounded by his many family and friends. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Al was the son of Alex Belardinelli and Jenny (Conge) Belardinelli and graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1963. After high school he attended Bullard-Havens Technical School and the University of Connecticut while working full time for several different architectural and construction companies, working his way up to a construction superintendent in the commercial field. Al met his beloved wife, Karen (Middlebrook) Belardinelli on a blind date when he was 17. When Al found out Karen was only 14, he told her he would see her in 2 years and sure enough 2 years later they reunited and eloped on February 5, 1966. Al and Karen were happily married for 49 years. In that time, they had four amazing children, Debora (and Gene Etheredge), Christopher, Alex (and Kim Belardinelli) and Valerie (and Ron Ryan), and six wonderful grandchildren Taylor, Aleya, Kyle, Kyra, Jack and Jordan. Al and Karen also embraced their nephew Donald (and Jackie Keegan) as their +óGé¼+ôson+óGé¼-¥ and counted his children as their own grandchildren, Jenna and Elizabeth. Al was preceded in death by both his father and mother, along with his older brother Lawrence Belardinelli. He is lovingly survived by his older brother Joseph (and Penny Belardinelli), younger brother Robert (and Sherry Belardinelli) and younger sister LuAnn (and Edward Lepore), along with countless adoring nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. Al started his career in construction at the very early age of nine, assisting in his father+óGé¼Gäós construction business. With a construction career that spanned 60 years, Al was very proud of the many projects under his supervision that included Reflections on the River, Mickey+óGé¼Gäós Toontown, Rollins College Alfond Sports Center, Port Canaveral Cruise Ship terminals, and many others. Al was awarded the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. Excellence in Construction +óGé¼+ôEagle Award+óGé¼-¥ for his oversight of the Rollins College Alfond Sports Center in 2001. Along with a long career in the commercial construction industry, Al enjoyed spending many hours in his workshop making furniture, bird houses, toys and other creative wood projects, as well as hanging out with his best friend and beloved dog, Gracie.
