We met Faith and Jim at Palm Bay Christian Church. It seemed we became friends very quickly both at church and out. We were traveling buddies and always had a grand time. Sometimes traveling with another couple can be difficult but that was never the case with us.
Our first trip together was to New York in December 2001. Faith and Jim invited us to go with them where they had a hotel room on Times Square. Note I said a room. It had two double beds and 1 bathroom. We made out fine as were were a lot younger then and were able to handle 1 bathroom. Probably couldn’t handle it today. On that trip we took a carriage ride in Central Park one evening and it was dreadfully cold. The carriage driver gave us a horse blanket to cover up with and it was so terribly scratch. Jim said he wondered whey they couldn’t give us a people blanket. WE all laughed and enjoyed our ride.
Conway, Faith and I got up one morning at 5am to be on the Today Show. It was sooo cold standing outside the studio and Jim said he would stay in bed. He certainly wasn’t into discomfort. Although it was a wise move.
We took many more trips together and Jim was always ready to do anything and everything. The first time I saw signs that all was not OK with Jim was when we were in DC. We were walking around a lot as you do in DC and all of a sudden he said, “I need to sit down for a bit”. That seemed to be the beginning of his difficulty in walking. Of course we all stopped and rested and off we went again.
Jim was a delight to be with and around. He could tell stories and never ran out of interesting ones. He was a caring man who truly loved his family and friends.
Whenever I think of Jim I will think of a sweet, sincere, easy going loving man.
When Jim was in the hospital he held Conway’s hand very tightly for a very long time. Conway said that really meant a lot to him. Also while in the hospital he told us he was in heaven. Gaye asked who he saw and he said he saw his mother and father. Jim was a good man who loved God and people. We loved him very much and will miss him.

I met Jim at River Run Christian Church several years ago. We had some very interesting conversations during those years, and I will truly miss talking with him. Rest in peace, Jim. God Bless You!

Jim was a wonderful person and will be missed. He was a good friend and neighbor to my mother and helped “keep an eye” on her after my father passed. He regularly visited my mother in the assisted living facility where he always seemed to have another story to entertain with. After she passed he and Faith were a great comfort to me. I always enjoyed hearing his tales of the old days at Panasonic and his latest travel adventures. He was a model for me and I hope to enjoy the full and meaningful life he modeled, always with a kind word and a smile. I will miss him.
