Obituary of Roberta G. Billings

Roberta G. Billings died at home after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Father B.K. of Ascension Catholic Church delivered Last Rites Saturday morning which she participated in. Father told her she was a Saint for the day. Roberta enjoyed a breakfast of bacon and grits (a favorite meal passed down from her father and mother) before peacefully passing away shortly thereafter with family in attendance. Born to the late Harold H. Green and Edythe Korman Green in Bronx, New York. Roberta spent her life between New York and Miami before settling in Brevard County over thirty years ago. Roberta relished her role as a mother and often worked two or three jobs to help provide for her family as best as she could. She recently wrote that she was proud of all four of her children and hoped they knew how much she truly loved them. Often called +óGé¼+ôGrammy B+óGé¼-¥ by children of family friends, she was eventually blessed to be a Grandmother, saying all three of her grandsons had been a source of joy and love since the day each was born. Her other passions in life included growing and sharing Peace Roses, writing her infamous +óGé¼+ôletters+óGé¼-¥, celebrating Christmas (especially baking tons of cookies and decorating), and cruising to the Bahamas. Before retiring she was a Travel Agent in the cruise industry and she continued to enjoy cruising for many years. Roberta truly was a Bahamas Mama. Roberta leaves behind daughter Angela Billings-Chiarullo (Ricky) of Satellite Beach, FL; son Wade Billings (Sandi) of Huntsville, AL; daughter Shari Pardo (Eddie) of Panama City Beach, FL; daughter Stephnie Billings of Bonita, CA; grandson Zackery Nuvy of Arlington, VA; grandson Cameron Nuvy of Panama City, FL; grandson Nicky Leo Chiarullo of Satellite Beach, FL; and brother Richard Green of Miami, FL along with other extended family members. Although she was given a diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis over four years ago, she fought a myriad of health issues including brave fights with two forms of cancer. Roberta was adamant about passing away with dignity and respect at home. The family thanks VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, especially Laurie Croce, Gail Dunbar, and T.T. Dyson for their assistance in caring for our loved one and for helping us to make certain that her choices were followed to the letter. Short in stature (under 5+óGé¼Gäó) but feisty and long in love she wrote that she +óGé¼+ô+óGé¼-ªDid the best I could raising my children and letting them know how much I love them+óGé¼-ªplaced my trust in God that He knows I want to see my youngest grandson graduate high school, and see my other grandsons grow into adulthood.+óGé¼-¥ And she did exactly that.Roberta chose to be cremated. A private family memorial service, celebration of life, and scattering of ashes will take place.
