Being a close friend of his grandson Anthony since highschool, Joe was always very kind to me. He welcomed me into his home on many occasions, always making sure I knew that I could stay the night instead of driving home to Orlando tired. Whenever I saw him, it was always next to his wife and with a smile on his face. I witnessed his kindness to Anthony firsthand many times, and I could tell he was the kind of man to bring warmth to everyone he interfaced with. I attended Christmas eve mass with them once, and instead judging me or making me feel alienated for not necessarily knowing what I was doing, he just came up to me after the service and joked “You’re not Catholic, are you?” He made me laugh in a situation where I was otherwise anxious and uncomfortable. Florida’s known as the Sunshine state, and I’m certain the sun will shine a little brighter over Palm Bay with Joe behind it up in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone hurting in this difficult time. He’s not a man that will be forgotten.

Love you dad!
I’m so happy you are at peace and whole again. Though our pain is still very deep, I know you are happy and that gives me comfort.
Give me the strength to see you one last time on Friday and continue to guide me and watch over our family. Thank you for molding me into the person I am today and I promise I will take care of mom to her last breathe.
Always and forever, much love… Ma Ka Paula
