Oh PJ, we never did meet again for lunch.
My deepest condolences to his wife Carol and family.
I met Parris in September 1968 at Freshers week for Mohawk College. He introduced me to the Fraternity guys he lived with and so many new friends were made. We were friends for several years, until I left Hamilton to live in Europe. I moved to South Florida in 2007 and we reconnected through Facebook. We kept saying we’d meet for lunch, halfway down 1-95……..but it just never happened. You will be missed.

Parris and our Dragi became friends through their Northern Affairs work relationship. They created so many opportunities to get together over the years, both in Ottawa and Yellowknife. Playing tennis under the midnight-ish sun was a particular fave in the North. He never failed to produce his famous recipe of red cabbage and ribs and tend to dinner when visiting.
Parris was so supportive of all kid-related activities. He once wrote a piece in the Yellowknife paper enthusiastically celebrating a school concert he attended while in town. Our daughters recall his interest in real conversations with them. As Danica remarked, “ Parris cared about the content; when he asked a question, he listened to the answer; he was never just waiting for his turn to talk.”
Regular phone conversations kept us in touch, and we’ll miss his irreverent humour.
Condolences won’t fill the gap left, but we offer them with live.

Condolences to Carol, Catherine and all extended family & friends. I worked with Parris in the 70’s and 80’s at Indian & Northern Affairs Canada (from whence I retired in 2009) . Have fond memories of Parris and his wit. Tilted a few (after work of course). RIP

My condolences to his extended family and in particular to Carol and Catherine. I met PJ in the early 1970s when we were both in the Canadian Ski Patrol in Ottawa. We had met through a mutual friend and became friends which remained to his passing. I last saw him and Carol when I visited their home in Florida three summers ago and was able to spend a couple of days with them. PJ and I visited Cape Canaveral. We had lost touch briefly but reestablished our friendship 4 or 5 years ago through the internet and kept in touch with one another, consoling our illness and sharing our tough times – he with his crippling arthritis and me with my problems with that disease in my hips and back. He always passed some wise tips to help me out. My brother and I briefly lived in Tonawanna (sp?) where I finished grade school and started at Buffalo Tech before returning to Canada. I believe that this was Carol’s home town. We’ll miss PJ’s sly wit and his sage advice. Don Pitman, Ottawa
